Johns Hopkins Hospital

For the 20^th consecutive time Johns Hopkins Hospital has earned the top spot in the US News & World Report’s annual rankings of more than 4,800 American hospitals.  Conceived to improve the health of the community and the world by setting the standard of excellence in medical education, research, and clinical care, the hospital’s Children's Center nearly a century old, represents the birthplace of modern pediatrics, setting the standards for pediatric research and advanced medicine.  The Center’s Child Life Department provides children and families with effective coping skills before, during and after hospitalization to enhance their emotional and social well being.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Founded to be the world leader in advancing the treatment and prevention of catastrophic diseases in children, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital integrates a rigorous set of values and ethical standards into the fabric of the institution to empower it to cure and enhance the quality of life of the children who come for treatment. Its Social Work Program provides education for families about the impact of the illness and how to cope with the inherent stress and problems associated with it.  The hospital was ranked by US News & World Report as the nation’s top children’s cancer hospital.  St. Jude has developed protocols that have helped push overall survival rates for childhood cancers from less than 20% in 1962 to 80% today.

Children’s Hospital Boston

With a vision to be the worldwide leader in improving children’s health, Children’s Hospital Boston is the primary pediatric teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School.  Consistently striving to make the patient experience a model of quality care through advanced treatment, compassionate support and full family participation and communication, the hospital works to achieve sensitivity and an understanding of the impact that stress can have on the emotions and behavior of the children and their parents.  Ranked by US News & World Report as the number one children’s hospital in the categories of Heart & Heart Surgery, Kidney Disorders, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Urology, and Orthopedics, the hospital also finished in the top three rankings for the remaining five specialties.
